Nico Hülkenberg

Birth Date: 19 August 1987 Birth Place: Emmerich am Rhein, Germany
Nationality: German Web:

Nico Hülkenberg became the first current Formula 1 driver in over 20 years to win the Le Mans 24 Hours with his 2015 victory on his debut for Porsche alongside team-mates Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber.

The performance has earned Hülkenberg the recognition he has long held within Formula 1 circles due to the consistently fine racecraft he has shown in predominantly midfield machinery ever since his debut in 2010 – not least his excellent pole position (by a full second) for Williams that year in Brazil.

Hülkenberg made his karting debut in 1997, at the age of 10 and began winning national championships five years later. He won the German Formula BMW title in 2005 before dominating the new A1 Grand Prix series a year later with nine wins for Germany.

In 2008 Hülkenberg won the Formula 3 Euro Series to keep up the winning habit. He followed it a year later by becoming one of just three drivers to win the GP2 Series in their first season, the others being Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Five years of Formula 1 later, Hülkenberg will now make his Race Of Champions debut in 2015 at London’s former Olympic Stadium.
